   Visit West Country
The west country has become a popular destination for many holiday makers looking to get away for the weekend or for a short relaxing break. So we decided to put together this list of resources to help you find out more about the key areas in the West Country including places to visit, help and advice and popular tourist attractions.

The west country consists of Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Each county has its own charms, from the green pastures and countryside walks in Somerset to the golden sandy beaches of Devon.

Each county has something to offer, Cornwall for its surfers, Devon for those who like to explore and enjoy excursions, Dorset and Somerset for the countryside and scenic towns. Getting to the west country is easy, the main access into the west country includes the M5 and a number of A roads from Bournemouth & Southampton, Somerset is about 2 hours from London, Dorset is around 3 hours 30 minutes, Devon is around 4 - 4.30 hours and Cornwall is about 5.3 - 6 hours.

Driving is relatively simple, leave the M25 onto the M4 and follow towards Reading/Bristol, follow the M4, in Bristol Join the M5 which will take you into Devon. For a shorter route you can leave the M25, Join the M3, follow until you join the A303.

Once you reach the Exeter, you can head in any direction, for Somerset, Dorset, or Cornwall. The A30 & A38 head through the heart of Devon and Cornwall, use these to cut journey times whilst taking in the countryside views and seaside towns.
